"I approach test case writing as a communication exercise. A test case with vague steps like 'log in and check the page' creates different interpretations for every tester. I optimize for atomic steps, explicit test data, and observable expected results so that anyone — a new hire, a developer, or an auditor — reaches the same conclusion. Trade-offs include the time investment in detailed documentation versus faster-but-fragile ad-hoc notes, and I balance that by investing heavily in high-risk areas while keeping lower-risk cases leaner."
