  1. Take your team's most recent test plan. Evaluate it against the "why test plans go unread" table. What could be improved?
  2. Write a one-page sprint test plan for your current sprint using the template above.
  3. Compare your current test plan format to the IEEE 829 structure. Which sections are you missing that might add value? Which IEEE 829 sections would be overkill?
  4. Create a test strategy document for your product that covers the next 6 months. Focus on the 5 key questions: what, what not, how, risks, and done criteria.
  5. Establish a plan review process: who reviews, when, and what is the sign-off mechanism?
